Update : We are moving!

Dear friends and guests,

As they say—WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, MAKE LEMONADE. Well, this summer that proverbial phrase has come to pass here at Chrome.

LEMONS-- Literally since the day we moved into our location here at 156 North Main Street, we have had difficulties with our landlord. This has been very frustrating given the amount of time and resources we have put into what we thought would be our permanent home. We have tried for two years to convince the owner of the building to keep the commitments he had made and deal honestly with us, to no avail. He has retaliated with untenable demands which have forced us to sever our lease and look for another location.

LEMONADE— In just 5 weeks, we were very fortunate to quickly find a better location that was suitable for a salon and contractors to make all the necessary renovations in record time. We have signed a long-term lease one block North at the Concord Center Complex. There is plenty of FREE PARKING and we look forward to seeing you at your next appointment at our new location at 10 Ferry Street.

Chrome Salon Updated Policies : Re-Opening 6/1/2020

Updated Policies:

Each guest must answer and sign our Covid-19 Release Form no less than 24 hours before their reservation. Please click here to view and complete your form.

Please allow flexibility in your schedule as Chrome Salon staff is working staggered schedules and have added steps in our (already strict) sanitation protocol. Providing the safest possible environment is our top priority!

Chrome Salon doors will be locked to help better control our environment. When you arrive to your appointment, please text or call the salon. Once we confirm that your Covid-19 Release Form has been filled out and your service provider is ready for you - we will call or text you back so that we can unlock the doors for you. Our front desk coordinator can be reached by text message at 603.413.2448 or phone call at 603.224.1123.

Guests must come alone to their reservation. No children, four legged friends, or family members - sorry!

Please do not bring any food or drink.

Please leave jackets, additional bags, paperwork, etc. in your car.

If possible, please limit your restroom use - the less time our staff spends sanitizing our space, the faster we can serve you!

Everyone is required to wear a mask at all times - no exceptions will be granted. Please bring an ear loop mask only. Keep in mind that if you choose to get a color service, your mask will likely get stained. If you do not have a mask - we will provide one for you upon arrival.

Once your mask is secured and you have entered the salon your stylist or barber will show you where to wash and sanitize your hands.

If you need product - please ask your stylist/barber. We will be happy to assist you with anything on our shelves!

Changes you will notice in the salon:

  • Lots of signage to explain the temporary rules.

  • No waiting area provided (please wait in your car until we are ready for you).

  • No beverage or snack service will be provided.

  • Our service menu is limited.

  • No magazines or business cards will be offered during your reservation.

  • We will be using disposable capes, aprons, and towels to keep you safe.

  • We have installed dividers between stations and shampoo sinks.

  • You will find sanitation stations throughout the salon.

Chrome Salon Covid 19 Reopening Statement

As many of you know Governor Sununu has slated a re-open date for New Hampshire salon services.

You may also be aware that we did not wait for the Governor to mandate closing - we did it on our own. We felt it was our job as professionals to uphold the safety practices and standards that are required by the NH State Board of Cosmetology and the CDC for the well being of not only our guests, but our team and our families. We feel the same responsibility when it comes to the opening.

Our team has done countless hours of research and planning to come up with what we consider to be the best safety protocols for ourselves ,our guests, and our community as a whole. Chrome Salon and Barber will reopen as soon as all changes have been made and all needed safety supplies are secured.  With the new guidelines the salon will need time to fully train each stylist on "best practices". Please be patient with us as we work through all of this. We promise we will accommodate everyone as soon as we can!

Guests whose appointments were affected by the shut down should expect to hear from us in the upcoming week or so to get you back in our schedules. All of our guests that were not affected but would like to set something up will be given 72 hr notice before we open back up. 

Upon opening things will not be business as usual. Here are a few of the required changes you may want to prepare for:

  • Services will be very limited. Haircuts and color retouches only. No blow outs allowed.

  • All guests and team members must wear a mask at all times.

  • Only 10 people in salon at any given time NO exceptions.

  • Guest must arrive alone. No exceptions - and yes, this includes children.

  • Schedules and hours of operation will be changed to accommodate not only the state requirements, but also team members that have immune compromised family members or lack of daycare for their children.

    Again, these are just a few of the things to expect. Chrome's full guidelines and opening status will be released at the beginning of next week.

Chrome Salon COVID-19 Statement

UPDATED : As of 3/18/20, Chrome Salon and Barber will be closed until further notice for the safety of our team, guests, and community. If you have an existing reservation after today, 3/17/20, your stylist or barber will be calling you to reschedule.

I know you have been bombarded with emails texts and social media posts all regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), but I'd like to take a minute to address things regarding Chrome Salon. 

For now, Chrome will be open and honoring existing appointments. We will not be open to the general public and ask that you do not bring anyone with you to your reservation. ONLY the person who has an appointment can be accommodated at Chrome at this time.

The Barbershop will be accepting walk ins, but can not have guests or friends of guests waiting in the shop. We will be taking phone numbers and texting you 10 minutes prior to your time slot. This will limit the risk of possible exposure by allowing for social distancing. As always, you are welcome to call ahead to reserve a specific time for your reservation in The Barbershop at Chrome.

We understand that schools being closed may cause difficulties for our guests making it to their appointments alone and we apologize for the inconvenience. If you find it necessary, we will do our very best to reschedule appointments as quickly possible. Unfortunately, we must be strict with these protocols for the time being. 

Our cancellation policy will be halted temporarily, so please, if for any reason you are not able to make it to your reservation let us know.  If you are experiencing any symptoms however small, I must ask you to reschedule your appointment. If you come in with symptoms, your stylist will not be able to preform the service, so please remain home if you are not well. If you know you have been exposed to or have traveled in the last two weeks please reach out to reschedule as soon as possible. 

On the flip side, Chrome Salon and Barber staff are prepared to make the same sacrifices and commitment for your well being.

If you are well and comfortable keeping your reservation here's what to expect :

As always, we will be keeping the highest of standards for sanitation. All stations, chairs, and implements are sprayed and wiped down with hospital grade disinfectant between each guest. All sinks are  sprayed and wiped down with the same disinfectant between each guest. As always, your stylist/barber will be washing their hands throughout the day and between each appointment. We will be disinfecting shared spaces, door handles, and other hard surfaces throughout the day. For the time being, we will not be using glassware for complimentary beverages and will be switching to disposable options.

I hope you can understand there may be last minute changes to your appointment - we are all in this together.

A Message From Sondra

As many of you know, for quite a few years, the repetitive motion required to perform my work has led to chronic muscle tension and strain on my upper body that has forced me to take short respites from work. The cumulative result on my body has led to debilitating pain, and I have been advised by my doctors that this condition will become acute if I do not give up the profession I love or give my body the time it needs to heal. 

I am fortunate to be working with a team of stylists who are as committed as I am to providing the best salon experience possible. For the next four to six weeks, they have offered to take care of my guests with guidance from me. I will be rescheduling you with the stylist I feel is best suited to you.  I am trying to keep existing appointments on the days and times they are currently scheduled. If it is necessary to make a change, we will be in touch. If you do not hear otherwise, your appointment will be as originally scheduled. 

Helen Keller said that “A bend in the road is not the end of the road…unless you fail to make the turn.” Since I have no intention of ending this journey, I have decided to take the time needed to make the turn.  I am confident in what lies beyond the bend.
